New Zealander Lorraine Jacobs has been a dedicated and very successful artist with watercolour and acrylic. She has developed a personal style that is freshly distinctive.
As an award winning contemporary artist working in her 'Broad View Studio' near Christchurch New Zealand, Lorraine's aim is to capture in her paintings some of the beauty and interest she sees in the world around her. Global travel and many years of living and painting abroad have given her added insights as an internationally recognised artist in watercolour (watercolor), acrylic, pen and ink, and graphite. She sells her realistic landscapes, house portraits and other original paintings and prints through a number of outlets as well as from her own studio-gallery.
From her first juried show in 1993, Lorraine's ability to meet the challenges of painting in watercolour (watercolour) on high quality acid-free rag paper, and acrylic on stretched canvas has been well-recognised, resulting in numerous sales and commissions and several significant awards.
Broad View, her studio-gallery, is in the small village of Kirwee, west of Christchurch New Zealand. Individual and corporate collectors of her realistic landscapes and delicate paintings of flowers (as well as numerous other topics) are in a number of countries around the world, including the USA, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and in southern Africa. Her landscape paintings of New Zealand and overseas scenery, and her portraits of people and buildings, animals and flowers, are keenly sort after by collectors in a number of countries. She is recognised as having a rare artistic ability that can capture with super-realism the details, colours and 'spirit' of whatever she paints.
Lorraine Jacobs is an executive member of Arts Canterbury, and remains an active distant member of the Nashville Artist Guild, a juried professional artist organisation in Tennessee, USA. While living in the USA, she was an active member of the Tennessee Art League, and was an award winning exhibitor with the Central South Art Exhibition and in juried competitions of The Artist Magazine.
