The former gold mining town of Arrowtown is a living, historic village in Central Otago, New Zealand.

At the heart of the southern lakes district, Arrowtown's long hot summer days and stunning autumn colours are followed by crisp clear sun-washed winters.

The seasonal changes are best reflected in this painting of the historic tree lined avenue, where in autumn the leaves of gold and red inspire tourists, artists and photographers from all over the world. Visitors can still pan for gold in the Arrow River!
