Often when I amd commissioned to paint a 'building portrait' of a childhood home or special building, I have only old black and white or quite indistinct family photos to go by. Conversations help me identify remembered colours and plants surrounding the building, and sometimes memories help me complete a reasonably balanced view. It can be quite a challenge! But I endeavour to reflect the life and joy of the old building that has been shared with me in words spoken in passion.
