McTaggart's Home

I was commissioned to paint this much-loved brick home in New York state. I used a couple of old photos and conversations with the former owners to bring their memories back to life.

Historical Society Building

Medium:
Acrylic on stretched canvas

The Disciples of Christ Historical Society is a unique building in Nashville, Tennessee, housing the archives of that 'family' of churches in the USA.

It is one of several commissions I was given, to portray this magnificent building. It is included on this website to demonstrate one style in the range of 'building portraits' I have done.

Click on Commission a Painting to discuss details with Lorraine, for a building you would like to capture in a quality watercolour or acrylic painting for your home or office.

The Club, Napier, NZ

Medium:
Watercolour on paper

Throughout New Zealand, cities and towns, large and small, have grand wooden buildings in typical colonial architecture.

These were normally built to house the 'Gentlemen's Club' of the wealthier citizens of the day. These days many have been preserved; this classic building in Napier is a fine example.

It has always intrigued me that while this painting was hanging in my gallery, prior to its being sold, dozens of visitors exclaimed, "I love that painting - I know that building! Where is it?" But in fact only one person ever correctly recognised the building as the Napier Club!

St Paul's Cathedral is an Anglican cathedral on Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London.

The present building dates from the 17th century and was designed by Sir Christopher Wren.

It is London's fifth St Paul's Cathedral, all having been built on the same site since 604 A.D.

Farm Cottage

Medium:
Watercolour on paper

Do you have a cottage, castle or club house (or any other kind of building!) that you would like to see 'captured' on your wall at home or work?

I did! This simple painting won first place in a significant juried exhibition in the USA, because I was able to replicate the subtle impression of the late afternoon light on the cottage and fence.
