Moeraki Boulders II
The second of a series of paintings depicting the Moeraki Boulders, on the east coast of New Zealand's South Island.
Tidal pools surround the spherical concretions, some of which are taller than a grown man.
In the distance is the fishing village of Moeraki, an early Māori settlement.

Pohutukawa Peninsula
When 18th century explorer Captain James Cook sailed here he aptly named this area the Bay of Plenty. The extensive and picturesque coastline and mild temperatures make this area of New Zealand's North Island one of the country's most popular holiday destinations.
The sun-bleached outcrop of rocks in this painting is crowned with a red-flowering pohutukawa tree - New Zealand's 'Christmas Tree'. Being a Southern Hemisphere country, 'Christmas' in NZ is the beginning of summer, and the main vacation season.
Castle Hill Formations 4
The limestone outcrops on the ridges and slopes above this valley originate in the South Pacific sea-beds. Under pressure from shifting tectonic plates, they rose to become some of the steep mountains and valleys of New Zealand's South Island.
They provide fascinating landscapes which have been used as settings for many films including 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, and 'Narnia - The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe'.
Arrowtown Cottages
My original watercolour of these cottages in Arrowtown now hangs on the wall of a corporate office in the USA. This stretched canvas version is available; the painting certainly reflects the area's 'wow' factor!
The former gold mining town of Arrowtown is a living, historic village in Central Otago, New Zealand.
At the heart of the southern lakes district, Arrowtown's long hot summer days and stunning autumn colours are followed by crisp clear sun-washed winters.
Mandolin Player
Don't you love this fellow's waistcoat!
I met this street corner musician in Downtown Nashville, and asked his permission to use him in a painting. He told me his name is Mike Slesser, but that he is commonly known as 'Mandolin Mike', and readily agreed to my request.
When the painting was finished I sent him a print.
Franz Joseph Glacier
The Franz Josef is a 12 km long glacier located in Westland National Park on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Together with the Fox Glacier 20 km to the south, it is unique in descending from the Southern Alps to less than 300 metres above sea level, amidst the greenery and lushness of a temperate rainforest. Guides escort people over and around and through the cracks and crevasses of the glacial ice-blocks which eerily creak and groan on their slow journey towards the valley floor.
