Collapsing Barn

An old barn stood for years in the middle of a field near our home on the Canterbury Plains in New Zealand. I took a casual photo of it one day, intending to paint it 'plein air' as soon as time and conditions permitted.
However the next time I drove past both barn and tree were smouldering ashes, no longer of use to the farmer for storage or shelter.
I am glad that my memory of the barn was not lost all together!

I have looked at many NZ paintings but your one seems to completely define all that is great about New Zealand, the wilderness, the mountains, flora. and famous rivers. I want my son to always have a reminder of his homeland, also the South Island where his father enjoyed years of tramping and mountaineering.
